Cooperation with national metrology organizations

Cooperation under the Metre Convention is also carried out through Regional Metrology Organizations (RMOs). VNIIM is a full member of two РМОs:

Eurasian Cooperation of Metrology Institutes (COOMET)
Asia-Pacific Metrology Program (APMP)

It also periodically collaborates and participates in the work of other metrology organizations:

EURAMET (European Association of National Metrology Institutes);
SIM (Inter-American Metrology System);
GULFMET (Gulf Metrology Organization);
AFRIMETS (Inter-African metrological system).

VNIIM has been participating in COOMET since the organization's establishment in June 1991.

VNIM specialists chair seven COOMET Technical Committees and the COOMET Joint Committee on Standards:

ТК 1 Joint Standards Committee;
TК 1.1 General issues of measurements (general metrology);
ТК 1.5 Length and angle;
ТК 1.6 Mass and related quantities;
ТК 1.8 Physical chemistry;
ТК 1.9 Ionizing radiation and radioactivity;
ТК 1.10 Thermometry and thermal physics;
ТК 1.12 Standard samples.

The VNIIM representative is also the official COOMET representative in the Joint Committee of the RMO and the BIPM (JCRB)

VNIIM has a recognized quality management system that meets the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 "General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories" and ISO 17034 "General Requirements for the Competence of Reference Material Producers," as confirmed by the QSF–R79 and QSF–R80 certificates issued by the International Regional Organization COOMET.

VNIIM joined the APMP as a full member in 2009. As part of its work within the APMP, VNIIM specialists participate in the following:

APMP Technical Committees (APMP TCs);
APMP Focus Groups (APMP FGs);
Represent VNIM at the APMP General Assembly (APMP GA).
